Leo Tolstoy, What is Art?
He’s making a little bit of sense now in snippets (I like the above passage), but honestly I think he was going senile as he was writing this (I reserve the right to change my opinion as often as I like). There is so much that is just wrong, some that is subject to opinion, and some that’s really interesting. It’s a fascinating way to meander through his mind, but I don’t even think he backs up his own arguments. When I’m done I’m going on a hunt to see what other people thought of it, I think it’ll be interesting to read.

Leo Tolstoy, What is Art?
Clearly I am an intelligent student with astute and piercing insights into literature. Who wants to smack Tolstoy a little. He’s making some good points, and he mostly begins by looking at the right things, but he has some ridiculous theories as well. Silly (and occasionally amazing) man.
