2009 in CONCERTS
2009 was an amazing year for me, concert-wise. I got to see a lot of acts I love. Follow the links for my pictures/comments on the concerts.
The Killers
One of the best shows of all time. I’ve seen videos on YouTube of other shows, I bought the “Live at Albert Hall”. Nope. NOTHING rivals the awesomeness that was the Aberdeen show, and all 8,000 of us screaming for 10 minutes “I got soul but I’m not a soldier” while waiting from them to come out for their encore. Or the minute when Brandon Flowers hugged me.

White Lies
They’re a small British band, so I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of you haven’t heard of them. You’re missing out if you don’t go listen to them.
Britney Spears
What can I say about the legendary Miss Britney Spears? I’m not a pop fan, I’m more of the rock, indie, folk persuasion, but I used to love Brit and I still do. I had a great time at the concert, though I felt she could’ve been more energetic/had a small stage lessen the exhaustion of bouncing about. Good day regardless though.
Opening: Ciara
Was expecting Ciara as an opening act to be great, but she was just okay. Didn’t do her greatest hits but somehow expected to pull off “Love. Sex. Magic” by herself.
Paolo Nutini
I love Paolo Nutini. The guy is nearing 23 and writes and sings like he’s 30. Even songs he wrote at 17. He’s a musical prodigy, and I fucking love his band (on the road). This concert felt like one big jam session and I am so happy I got to go. The guest song with Kyle Falconer, “Covers”, was wonderful and I got shivers when he sang “These Streets” and “Last Request”. I also loved every other thing that came out of his mouth and from the guitar strings, piano keys, etc. GAH! Fucking amazing time.
Guest: Kyle Falconer from The View

Calvin Harris
Did a DJ set in our University Union. I went with a guy at the time I had a crush on, dressed to the nines, we had a lovely time and he was a lovely date. Harris himself thought we were all “up for the rave”. Was awesome.
Patch William
Small British band. They’re pretty cool, or at least I’m inclined to think so. This gig was their album launch, it was a small venue, and when they weren’t playing there were having drinks in the back and just chatting. All really lovely.

Beyonce
I got free tickets via Trident (chewing gum), and took my brother as my extra because he’s the biggest Beyonce fan. I’m indifferent/love one or two songs. I don’t love her all that much and don’t understand half the hype. But it was a great concert, Jay Z came out for Crazy in Love and Kanye West for Ego. Both were great. Won’t forget singing pretty much all of “Irreplaceable” with the crowd and her just standing there smiling, almost crying.
Guests: Jay Z & Kayne West
James Morrison
Last concert of the year. Amazingly, I still haven’t upload any pictures, but it was a really really fantastic night. His opening act was OneRepublic, who I absolutely LOVE. I was there for the weekend and stayed over at friend’s, and she’s amazing, and we had a wonderful time, and he is beautiful, his songs are amazing, his voice is effortless.
