Book Review: tuesdays with Morrie

(Photo is mine).

I had read For One More Day by Mitch Albom before this one. I was completely disappointed in that book. To be completely honest, I don’t remember what it was about, exactly, but I didn’t like it. Anyway, a teacher of mine and a couple friends all told me to read tuesdays with Morrie. I otherwise would not have touched a book by Albom again.

tuesdays with Morrie is interesting. I think a lot of people know what it’s about — Mitch’s old college professor, Morrie, is dying and for the last few weeks of his life they meet up once a week to talk about life, death, and things like that. They call it their last thesis.

I wouldn’t say it’s a bad book. It’s easy to read, doesn’t take long and I suppose gets you thinking. I respect Morrie and the image we’re given of him, but I still don’t think Albom’s a good enough writer. There’s a lack of originality in both his style and way the story is presented. Both in a nonfiction, like tuesdays, and his fiction work (For One More Day).

Basically, a book you should get out of your library. I wouldn’t pay for it again.
